Principal’s Report
Celebrating 150 Years
From August 31 until September 5 this year we will be holding a week-long celebration marking 150 years since the arrival of the Sisters of Mercy in Singleton, taking charge of the education of Catholic students in the region. As a part of this, each newsletter we will be providing some snippets of our history, largely based on the wonderful work of Dr. Pam Como.
In 1874 Bishop Quinn of Bathurst, on behalf of Bishop Murray of Maitland, travelled to Ennis in Ireland and negotiated the foundation of Sisters for Singleton. The following year, on August 31, 10 nuns from Ireland arrived to establish a convent of the Order of Mercy. The Sisters arrived by train with the Right Reverend Dr. Murray and were met by a large welcoming group that included Rev. C Fontaine, Mrs Edward Browne, Miss Fitzgerald, Mrs Nesbitt amongst a large contingent of local people. The group formed a procession led by about sixty girls and proceeded to the Catholic Church and the nearby new convent, the former presbytery, at the location of the current convent buildings next to our school.

The Sisters who were the pioneers for Singleton were:
Mother M Stanislaus Kenny
Sister M Bernard Gavin
Sister M Berchmans Goggin
Sister M Ignatius O’Brien
Sister M Francis Fleming
Sister M Xavier Ryan
Sister M Gertrude Forde
Sister M Aloysius O’Connell
Sister M Joseph O’Connor
Sister M Gonzaga O’Driscoll
Easter Blessings
As we continue to prepare to for Easter, we are reminded of the profound significance of this holy season. Easter is a time of renewal, hope, and joy, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His victory over death. It is a celebration of the ultimate triumph of light over darkness, life over death, and love over sin.
In our St Catherine’s Catholic College community, Easter offers us a unique opportunity to reflect on the core values of our faith. It is a time to embrace the message of Christ's resurrection and to let it inspire our daily lives. As we journey through this season, let us consider the following reflections:
- Renewal and Transformation: Easter invites us to experience spiritual renewal. It is a time to let go of past mistakes and to embrace the new life that Christ offers. Let us open our hearts to God's grace and allow His love to transform us.
- Hope and Joy: The resurrection of Jesus fills us with hope and joy. Despite the challenges and difficulties we may face, Easter reminds us that God's love is stronger than any obstacle. Let us carry this hope into our daily lives, spreading joy and positivity to those around us.
- Community and Service: Easter calls us to live out our faith through acts of love and service. As a school community, let us support one another, reach out to those in need, and work together to build a more compassionate and just world. By serving others, we become true witnesses of Christ's love.
- Gratitude and Praise: Finally, Easter is a time to give thanks and praise to God for the gift of His Son. Let us express our gratitude through prayer, worship, and acts of kindness. May our hearts be filled with thanksgiving for the blessings we have received.
As we celebrate Easter, let us remember that we are called to be people of the resurrection. May the joy and hope of this season inspire us to live our faith with renewed energy and to share the love of Christ with all we encounter.
Wishing you all a blessed and joyful Easter!

Assistant Principal - Years 7, 9 & 11
Year 7
Year 7 are settling into Secondary school enthusiastically. They are forming new friendships and getting to know their teachers, as well as adapting to the quite different high school day to day experience of moving between lessons and learning how to build on their experience in Primary school to thrive in Year 7.
This term, NAPLAN has been completed, and Year 7 handled this mandatory testing period with maturity, working with us to navigate the testing period and use technology in a timed scenario. The key message we emphasised to Year 7 was that NAPLAN is ‘point in time snapshot’ of literacy, numeracy and language conventions, that enables teaching staff to develop rich and personalised learning through highlighting opportunities for growth in teaching and learning. NAPLAN gave us an opportunity to highlight this approach, and we will continue having conversations with our Year 7s to encourage them to always give every task their best.
Uniform standards across the College have been a focus this year, and Year 7 have impressed me a great deal with their organisation for those days when they have prac lessons and bringing in notes for the days where there’s been an issue wearing the correct uniform. I thank our hardworking parent community for keeping this at the front of mind and supporting the College in ensuring our uniform standards are a source of pride.
As we approach the end of the term, the holidays offer an opportunity to ensure that all equipment for school has survived the term, and replace anything that might be in need of a refresh. All students should have pens, lead pencils, colouring in pencils and a pencil sharpener. Students should also have a book for every subject, and we encourage these to be covered with contact – the school bag can be a hazardous place for books!
In visiting classrooms and during assemblies, I have been impressed with the ways our Year 7s have engaged in the faith life of the College, and watched with joy as they have participated in House events with enthusiasm. The swimming carnival was a wonderful display of House spirit, and a fun day was had by all.
Year 9
Year 9 have had a great start to the academic year across all Key Learning Areas, as well as participating in a number of representative sport events, including Bill Turner and the Hunter AFL Tournament.
Year 9 students are also enjoying their chosen electives, and we have seen some wonderful examples of learning in these classes, as students branch out from the more traditional subject areas into pathways of learning they have chosen for interest. We look forward to seeing the results of many projects and assessments in these classes.
Year 9 have also admirably stepped up into Stage 5 with many examples of leadership and maturity, I have personally witnessed some wonderful moments of Year 9 being willing to help others by looking after some of the younger members of our College community. As they move closer to Year 10, many students will be considering future pathways both within school and beyond. Now is an excellent time to begin having those conversations about looking ahead to School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships – I encourage Year 9 students to begin asking questions of staff as well as other students who participate in these opportunities in Year 11, as it will be useful in focusing on how the remainder of Year 9 and their upcoming Year 10 studies can help them to be ready for the opportunities available in Stage 6.
Organisation can be a challenge in this quite significant transition period for Year 9, and so I encourage parents to maintain conversation with your child to help them to stay on track. The demands to technology can easily derail homework and study time, so it’s useful to have tech-free time organised into a timetable at home. Study and homework timetables are also a great way to help your child to keep on top of their revision, and we welcome collaboration with class teachers on the best way to keep an eye on how your child’s learning journey is coming along.
Year 11
Year 11 have taken to the rigors of Stage 6 well, and they are engaging regularly with their teachers to keep up with the demands of these courses. As they have discovered, time moves quickly in these final years of school, so the end of term one provides a valuable opportunity to take a reset and refresh break over he holidays. This is great time to consider what habits worked well, and what might need some fine-tuning, ahead of the beginning of Term 2 when very soon they will be halfway through their Preliminary HSC course.
Study lessons have been moved into classes, and students are working with supervising teachers to minimise distractions and stay on task with their assessment and classwork, as well as working through revision practice. The College mobile phone policy is an important aspect of this time, in which we seek to minimise any distraction, so that our Year 11s can make the most of this time to focus, set up goals and organise their notes or calendars to plan for upcoming submission dates. This is also an excellent time to contact class teachers for any additional advice or clarification of course content. More information will be provided to parents/carers and students to support this approach in the weeks to come.
As you might have noticed, organisation is a key theme across the board for students in all years of study. It is very easy for students in Year 11 to become overwhelmed without the right tools and advice to keep them on track. This ranges from those students on ATAR pathways to those who are pursuing an SBAT or VET pattern of study. Our VET/Careers advisor Ms Mandy Pursell is available for regular check-ins, and we encourage students to seek out either their classroom teachers or myself if they are in need of any support or guidance.
We hope all of our students have a safe and restful Easter break, as we celebrate our Risen Lord.
Mrs Kelly Pearson
Assistant Principal (Secondary) Years 7, 9 & 11
Assistant Principal – Years 8, 10 & 12
Year 8
Year 8 students have made progress in their learning, personal development, and contributions to school life. This stage of their schooling is an important time of growth, and it has been pleasing to see so many students demonstrating increased maturity, responsibility, and enthusiasm.
Throughout the term, we have seen Year 8 students take important steps towards becoming independent learners and responsible members of our school community. Their willingness to engage with their studies, support their peers, and contribute positively to school activities reflects their growing sense of self-discipline and confidence.
It has been particularly inspiring to see so many Year 8 students actively participating in the Parish Mass program, attending mass at St Patrick’s in their class groups on Wednesday mornings. Their involvement in these celebrations demonstrates their deepening connection to their faith and the broader parish community. Their respectful participation is a credit to both themselves and their families.
A highlight of the term was our recent Year 8 Spirituality Day, where students had the opportunity to reflect on their personal and spiritual growth. The day encouraged them to think about their relationships, values, and the role faith plays in their lives. A special thank you to the Year 10 students who assisted as leaders, providing guidance and support throughout the day.
As students continue their learning journey, it is essential they develop strong study habits and organisational skills. Summative assessments play a key role in their academic progress, allowing them to demonstrate their learning and receive feedback to help them improve. Being prepared, meeting deadlines, and developing good revision strategies will set them up for success in the years ahead. Parents can support their children by encouraging consistent study routines and checking in on assessment requirements.
Year 10
This term has been filled with academic progress, personal growth, and strong contributions to school life across a variety of areas for our Year 10 students.
Year 10 students have shown tremendous enthusiasm and sportsmanship in both school and representative sports this term. Whether competing in school-based carnivals, inter-school competitions, or representing the school at higher levels, their commitment to teamwork and fair play has been inspiring. A special mention goes to those who have balanced both their studies and sporting commitments—demonstrating great time management and resilience.
One of the standout moments this term was the way many Year 10 students stepped up as leaders during the Year 8 Spirituality Day. Their willingness to mentor and guide younger students through discussions and activities was a testament to their maturity and growing leadership skills. These experiences are invaluable as they prepare for senior years and potential leadership roles within the school.
As we move into Term 2, I encourage Year 10 students to continue embracing every opportunity available to them. Whether in academics, leadership, sport, or culture, their involvement makes a meaningful difference. I thank them for their contributions so far and look forward to seeing their continued growth in the terms ahead.
Year 12 Term 1 Achievements & Important Updates
As we conclude Term 1, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our Year 12 students. This term has been a busy one, with students managing coursework, assessments, and future planning. Their resilience and commitment to their studies have been commendable, and we are proud of their achievements so far.
Early Entry Applications Open
For those considering university pathways, Early Entry applications are now open for many institutions. Programs such as the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) and direct entry opportunities provide a valuable chance for students to secure a place before HSC exams. I encourage students to explore their options and begin preparing their applications. Our Careers Advisor, Mrs Pursell, is available to offer guidance, so please don’t hesitate to seek support.
Minimum Standards Testing
A reminder to students who still need to complete the NSW HSC Minimum Standards testing—this must be finalised to ensure eligibility for the HSC. If you have outstanding components, please make arrangements to complete them as soon as possible during a study period in the library. These literacy and numeracy standards are an essential requirement, and meeting them early will reduce stress later in the year.
Logging into NESA Students Online
It is crucial that all Year 12 students log into their NESA Students Online account to verify personal details, check their enrolments, and access key HSC information. This platform is the central hub for student records and will be essential as we move closer to final examinations. If you have any trouble logging in, please reach out to Ms Partridge for assistance.
Assessment Schedules & Planning Ahead
As Term 2 approaches, students should carefully review their assessment schedules to ensure they are prepared for upcoming tasks. Time management and consistent study routines will be key to success. Teachers are available to provide support, so I encourage students to seek help early if they have any concerns.
Year 12 Spirituality – May 2025
One of the most significant events in Year 12 is the upcoming Retreat. This retreat offers students a unique opportunity to pause, reflect, and strengthen their relationships with peers and their faith. It is always a highlight of the year and a chance to step away from academic pressures to focus on personal growth. The event for this is now open on Compass for parents to provide consent, and you should also have received an email from CCC to set dietary preferences. I encourage all students to take full advantage of this special experience.
Looking Ahead
With only a few terms remaining in their school journey, Year 12 students should take pride in their progress and remain focused on their goals. Their commitment now will pave the way for success in the HSC and beyond.
Thank you for your continued support, and I wish all students a restful and refreshing break.
Warm regards,
Carmen Partridge
Assistant Principal (Secondary) - Years 8, 10 & 12
Wellbeing
Wellbeing Week Brings Joy, Connection, and Fun to Our College!
What a fantastic week we had at our college, as students and staff came together to celebrate Wellbeing Week! Packed with engaging activities, friendly competition, and plenty of moments for connection, this special event highlighted the importance of community, kindness, and self-care.
The week kicked off with an exciting Table Tennis Competition on Monday, bringing together students and staff for some fast-paced fun. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, staff and students embraced the spirit of St Patrick’s Day, wearing and accessorising with green.
Tuesday’s Chalk Talk & Fruit Fun activity saw students from K-12 unleashing their creativity, designing inspiring images and messages on the pavement outside The Cottage and Administration Building. Fresh fruit was made available all week and students were encouraged to take and share, reinforcing the theme of wellbeing and nourishment.
On Wednesday, music filled the air with Music and Karaoke on the Green. Students had the chance to sit back and enjoy the tunes or step up to the microphone for some lively performances. A big shout-out to our CAPA staff for making this musical celebration happen!
Thursday brought out the trivia masters for Trivia in the Library, where students tested their knowledge in a fun and friendly competition. Congratulations to Year 12 for their win and special mention to Mr Howard as recipient of the wooden spoon.
Meanwhile, staff enjoyed a well-deserved break with Cuppa in the Cottage, a warm and welcoming space filled with sweet treats and great conversations. Thank you to the Wellbeing Team for creating this relaxing experience for our dedicated staff!
The week wrapped up with a thrilling Staff vs Student Handball Competition on Friday and Staff and Student Affirmations were also shared, with printed affirmation slips placed on desks and in pigeonholes to spread positivity and encouragement across the school.
Adding an ongoing creative touch, our Colouring-In Competition ran throughout the week, giving students the chance to showcase their artistic skills. Winners were Caleah Merrick, Charlotte McFadzen and Lilly Oliver, Congratulations!

Chisholm House Day – A Fantastic Success!
Term 1 is Chisholm Term, a time to celebrate the values of kindness, service, and compassion embodied by Caroline Chisholm. On Thursday 27 March, St Catherine’s was awash in a sea of red as we celebrated Chisholm House Day! It was a fantastic event, filled with school spirit, joy, and of course, red lolly bags.
We are thrilled to announce that Chisholm House raised an amazing $855.50! This will be donated to Project Compassion, reflecting the generosity and community spirit that Caroline Chisholm championed.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Reakes and the Chisholm Team for their hard work and dedication in making the day such a success. Your efforts truly brought the Chisholm spirit to life!
Thank you to everyone who contributed—what a wonderful example of teamwork and House spirit! ❤️

Year 1
Year 1 has had an exciting term! Our Intensive Swimming Lessons at the Singleton Gym helped us build confidence and learn important water safety skills. A big thank you to the wonderful instructors for their support!
In Maths, we explored patterns and number combinations using dominoes. Working in small groups, we organised our collections to find matching pairs, building problem-solving skills along the way.

Year 2
Year 2 have had a busy start to the school year! We have been very lucky to participate in many extra-curricular activities like the NRL Blitz Program and more recently, the Intensive Swimming Program at the pool. Both 2W and 2T have been working closely together, so have had many opportunities to learn through play across all subjects. The students enjoy being able to manipulate objects and investigate with their peers to engage in learning! You will see from the photos how busy we have been. We are looking forward to our excursion to Tocal next term and are counting down the days on our classroom calendar.

Year 4
Term 1 has been an exciting and busy time for Year 4, filled with learning, creativity, and teamwork!
4T and 4W proudly presented our class Assembly Item, showcasing their confidence and enthusiasm in front of the school community.
We also had the privilege of joining the Year 12 students for a special Ash Wednesday liturgy, reflecting on the significance of the season.
In Science, we put our engineering skills to the test by designing and building marble runs, experimenting with gravity and forces by
The Maths Bee challenged our problem-solving abilities, as we competed in a fun and fast-paced quiz. Congratulations to Stella and William as they represented our school at the regional finals.
In PE, we explored movement and balance using high and low body shapes along with our own choreography, learning how to express ourselves through dynamic poses and teamwork. It has been a fantastic term, and we look forward to more exciting learning in Term 2!

Year 5
Term 1 has been an exciting start to the year in Year 5! In English, we have been reading The Wild Robot and exploring the features of science fiction narratives, leading to some creative storytelling from our students. In Mathematics, we have been working on representing numbers, arithmetic operations, and understanding fractions and geometric measurement. Science has been particularly exciting with our bottle rocket launches, where students applied their knowledge of forces and motion in a hands-on experiment, and in sport, we have focused on batting and fielding games, developing teamwork and coordination skills. A major milestone this year has been the introduction of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) computers, which students have been learning to use effectively to support their learning. When asked about their favourite part of Year 5 so far, our students had plenty to share:
“Being in our new classrooms in the secondary area. I feel like we are nearly high schoolers!” – Willow 5G
“We have our own computers and get to play times tables games in Maths.” – Scarlett 5G
“We have been learning about fractions and centimetres in Maths by measuring our heights on the door. It was fun!” – Evie 5T
“My favourite thing to do is feed the pig at the school farm with my friends.” – Kobie 5T
“I like looking after the younger students and playing sport with the other classes.” – Nash 5N
“I have enjoyed being challenged in Maths using the computers and reading The Wild Robot in English.” – Zoe 5N
“My favourite part has been meeting new friends and getting to do Virtual Academy.” – Ben 5W
“We did a cultural exchange with Chia Yi City Min Tzu Primary School and I tried Taiwanese foods like Milk Puffs.” – Ned 5W
“I like getting to be more organised and have more independence in our work.” – Isabella 5W
It has been a fantastic start to the year, and we look forward to what’s to come in Term 2!

Secondary Religion
This term in Religious Education, we have explored the theme of what it means to be part of a Catholic community, with a particular focus on the unique roles each individual plays within the body of Christ. Our Year 8 students engaged in a Reflection Day that allowed them to reflect on the values they bring to the community. The day was centered around understanding how, as members of the Church, we each contribute to the whole, and how our individual strengths and differences enhance our shared mission.
In the Senior School, our Studies of Religion students have been diligently preparing for their upcoming examinations, honing their analytical and writing skills in preparation for the HSC. Their commitment to deepening their understanding of the course material has been commendable, and they are steadily building their confidence in tackling complex topics.
Additionally, Year 12 Studies of Religion students are invited to join Wednesday Morning Study sessions at 8:15 am in C5. These sessions are an excellent opportunity for students to review content, clarify any uncertainties, and prepare for the challenges ahead.
As we move through the term, it's inspiring to see how students are engaging with their faith and developing both academically and spiritually. It has been a term filled with reflection, growth, and a deeper appreciation for the community we are building together.

Secondary Sport
Term 1 has been an excellent term for secondary sport at St Catherine's.
On Friday 14 February, the Secondary Swimming Carnival took place on a pristine day, where the sun was out, the birds were chirping, and the students and staff of St Catherine’s were in high spirits. In the competitive races students produced some very impressive swims and times on the day in all form strokes. In the non-competitive swimming arena secondary students and staff managed to complete a total of 214.8km of swimming of the pool in the hot lap times. This was like swimming from Singleton to Sydney Harbour Bridge.
In the pool we had some successful results. Quin Neyland broke 2 records in the 14 Girls division. 14 Girls 50m Backstroke from 2015 in a time of 35.21 and then the 14 Girls 50m Butterfly where the record was previously held from 1984!! Quin eclipsed this record by .25sec in a time of 32.83.
We also held a teams triathlon on the day where 24 students took part. Congratulations to the winning team of Owen Trickey, Fintan Trickey and Elijah Campbell.
The winning house of the day from the combination of swimming races and hot laps was CHISHOLM. McAuley was second and Xavier finishing in third place.
Congratulations to our Age Champions listed below.
12 | - | Charlotte Goodwin |
13 | Alexander Lalewicz | Mila Lynch |
14 | Ryan Leggett Levi Robinson Declan Trickey | Quin Neyland |

We had 19 students who attended the Secondary Diocesan Swimming Carnival at the Uni Forum. From there we had 6 students qualify to represent Maitland Newcastle at the NSWCCC Swimming Carnival at Homebush: Quin Neyland, Mila Lynch, Savannah Sporule, Molly Scoular, Hannah Coleman-Byrnes and Braxton Belcher. Quin Neyland was also the U14s girls Age Champion at the Carnival.
In Week 8 both our Senior Girls and Boys AFL teams ventured to Teralba compete in the Senior Schools Cup. Despite playing 2 players short all day, our girls produced some excellent results to finish in 2nd place on the day by winning 4 of their 5 games. Our boys also had some success, with the highlight being a goal after the siren from Sam Oliver to beat Newcastle High School.
In Week 9, we had a whopping 80 students compete at the 14s, 16s and 18s Rugby League 10s at Pirtek Park. This day provided some great results with our Under 14s Girls winning their competition thanks to winning 3 of their 4 games. The 16s boys also won their competition thanks to a Murray Hazell try in Golden Point in the Grand Final. Both of these teams will now head to Tamworth early in Term 2 for the next round of competition.
On the individual sporting front, we have had plenty of student's trial and make CCC events. For Rugby League: Will Hanlon, Sybella Pike, Sienna Brumby, Nate Rothall, Jayden Brumby and Taylah Belcher will all represent Maitland Newcastle at the Northern Team Trials at South West Rocks. In Touch Football, Xavier Hicks will represent Maitland Newcastle at the CCC Touch Championships on the Central Coast. In AFL: Quin Neyland, Xavier Hicks and Owen Trickey were all chosen to represent Maitland Newcastle and will be trialling to make their respective CCC teams.
Congratulations to all our students and teams on their wonderful sporting achievements in Term 1.

TAS
Year 7 Students in Mr Della Santa's Technology classes have been learning design and construction skills both digitally, using computer 2D and 3D free Web Apps called Photopea and Tinkercad, and physically in the workshop using timber and tools. The Focus Area is Materials and Engineering, and the theme has been 'Cars'. Digitally, students designed shapes for their cars to fit onto an Elastic Band Racer Chassis which was then cut out using a Laser Cutter. Students also made models of cars out of timber in the workshop. In the workshop, it is good to have a second project of student interest to keep busy with while waiting for machinery or needing a break from the regular project. One such project was a beautifully engraved unique timber piece with Aboriginal designs

In the second part of the term, Mr Della Santa's Year 8 Technology class has been focusing on Materials Technology in the Textiles room. We have been learning about crocheting using a circular loom device with a pick to help the knotting and looping process in crocheting. Students have moved ahead enthusiastically with this project and seem to find it a relaxing pastime. It take patience and commitment as it is time-consuming and requires concentration while developing dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Mr Della Santa's Stage 5 and 6 classes started the year with a skills-building Timber Puzzle Practice Project designed to develop fundamental Measuring, Marking, Cutting, skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency essential for fine timberwork joinery techniques used in furniture making. Students then commenced projects at varying levels of difficulty aligning with their year levels.
Year 9 project is a Serving Tray which has Rebate, as well as Groove Joints, shaping and drilling skills incorporated.

Year 10 project is a Tool Caddy with Drawer. It has Housing, Butt, Rebate, and Dovetail Joints, along with Lathe and Bandsaw skills.

Year 11 project is a Games Desktop Box with Drawer which can also be used as a Drawing Board for students to be able the do hand drawings of the projects and plans to be included in their Portfolios.

Secondary Library
In the Secondary Library we started the celebration of St Catherine’s 150 years with these pictures of our Yr 12 students around the wall. We got in early and did this several years ago. Going back to 2000 the pictures have created great interest amongst students, staff and parents. They are also a constant reminder to our students of the culture and tradition of which they become part by becoming students at the College.

Meeting the demands of the 21st Century in numerous circumstances is going to be challenging. Not the least of these will be in the area of artificial intelligence.
Schools must play a significant role in ensuring that ordinary people continue to have control over their daily lives, and not to be managed and organised by electronic systems.
A considerable part of this process will be through the continued valuing of school libraries and printed collections in general. This is because through the continued use of printed information it is often possible to check the accuracy of what we are told. (Although it should be acknowledged that printed material is not always correct, but at least the source of it is usually verifiable.)
We are all exposed to disinformation and misinformation, and it is essential to be able to check what we are being told.
So, an interesting experiment – what does artificial intelligence say a secondary school library should be doing in 2015.
These ideas came from Copilot the AI system available through the Diocesan website.
- Libraries are becoming centres for community engagement and collaboration, not just within schools. But also with external experts and organisations.
- There is a strong emphasis on teaching students how to effectively find, evaluate, and use information. This is crucial in an age where information is abundant but not always reliable.
- Modern libraries are being designed as flexible, dynamic spaces that can accommodate various learning activities. This includes collaborative workspaces, quiet study areas, and technology hub.
- Future libraries are being designed with sustainability in mind, using eco-friendly materials and practices. They are also focusing on inclusivity, ensuring that all students have access to resources and support.
- Libraries are increasingly integrating digital resources and technology to support students learning. This includes e-books, online databases and digital literacy programs.
This is close to the aspirations that St Catherine’s Library has, although it is important to add the aim of flexibility and the need to provide a safe respite space when needed.
In a world where so many people seem to regard phones as almost an extension to their own minds, parents and teachers need to work consistently with young people to ensure that we are not allowing phones, and technology in general, to control us.
Just finally, thanks to Ms Kymerbley Barnes (0.4 Teacher/Librarian), and Mr Bailey Abela (Library Assistant) for their good work and support.
